About Bikes 4 Change

Our Organisation

Bikes 4 Change is a local non profit organisation dedicated to assisting any individual to get access to a bike in the Telford and Wrekin area. Our journey began as Bikes 4 Kids on April 4th, 2021, during the lockdown period, as we started donating bikes to children in need.

Over the past two years, we have experienced tremendous growth, creating partnerships with multiple local organisations to expand and allow more people access to cycling. We have also undertaken a full rebrand, changing our name to Bikes 4 Change as we want the message to be clear that we donate bikes to anyone and everyone, from school children to adults. Every individual deserves access to a bike this aligns with our slogan ‘cycling for change, one bike at a time’.

We operate on a donation basis for providing bikes to those in need and can collect or deliver donated bikes.

We also provide a range of services including:

  • bike repairs

  • servicing

  • maintenance classes (aimed at teaching basic bike upkeep).

It is important to note that before donating a bike, we ensure it undergoes servicing by myself (Colin), a Cytech certified mechanic to meet safety standards. Please contact us for any further details regarding the services.

We appreciate the need for bikes, but we are also in desperate need of volunteers. Specifically, we are seeking volunteers for the following areas:

  • Administrative work = help us manage our operations by responding to emails, sorting through submission forms, and addressing any other inquiries we receive.

  • An interest in bike maintenance = utilise your skills to service bikes and help resolve any mechanical issues that may arise, ensuring that our bikes are in great condition.

  • Delivery/collection assistance = play a vital role in our charity by collecting bikes from generous donors and facilitating their delivery to new users.

We value every volunteer and their contributions so anyone willing to lend a helping hand is most welcome. Together, we can make a significant difference in our community.

Our Mission

Our mission is to spread the message that cycling should be readily available for anyone and everyone from school children to adults. We believe no one person should be without a bike and therefore want to try and provide as many people as possible with the joys and benefits of cycling. We recognise how much cycling improves mental and physical well-being.
